SFMOMA is excited to be participating in Slow Art Day this year alongside over 200 institutions worldwide! In addition to inviting you to visit us for a slow art experience on April 27, we’ve also decided to take the concept of slowing down and being more mindful beyond the galleries and onto the Internet with SFMOMA slow, a crowd-sourced project that seeks to engage our online community in a refreshingly unhurried experience.
To participate in SFMOMA slow, simply locate an image or object that interests you, then spend ten uninterrupted minutes looking at it. When your ten minutes are up, snap a picture of what you looked at and tell us about your experience: what thoughts and questions came to mind while you were looking? How did the experience change your perception?
Submit your contribution here and use #SFMOMAslow to share your thoughts on this experiment in mindfulness!
